Decolonizing Therapy

I am dedicated to ongoing efforts to decolonize myself and my practice. This means:

  • Recognizing that our mental health industry assumes clients have the power and privilege of whiteness and disregards the impact of racism on mental health.

  • Honoring anger and depression as valid, healthy reactions to systemic oppression, trauma, and abuse.

  • Elevating BIPOC voices over my own.

  • Continually challenging my intrinsic biases as well as those of my white peers.

  • Realizing I am not the best therapist for everyone, acknowledging when someone else is a better fit, and helping you connect to that someone so you get the help you deserve.
