Decolonizing Therapy
I am dedicated to ongoing efforts to decolonize myself and my practice. This means:
Recognizing that our mental health industry assumes clients have the power and privilege of whiteness and disregards the impact of racism on mental health.
Honoring anger and depression as valid, healthy reactions to systemic oppression, trauma, and abuse.
Elevating BIPOC voices over my own.
Continually challenging my intrinsic biases as well as those of my white peers.
Realizing I am not the best therapist for everyone, acknowledging when someone else is a better fit, and helping you connect to that someone so you get the help you deserve.
