Depression, Anxiety, Stress

We do ourselves a disservice when we talk about mood disorders like depression and anxiety as solely rooted in brain chemistry. These painful states may have organic origins, but they are fueled by a culture of systemic inequality, stress, and scarcity. It’s important for therapy to help you identify and regulate what’s within your control (i.e. your thoughts and behaviors) as well as identify what’s outside your control (i.e. other people, capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy) so you can learn to cope effectively… or work with like-minded folx to burn toxic systems to the ground.

My approach to mood disorder treatment is a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). With a healthy dose of outrage and activism.
